Mark Cohen, CEO of the legal business consultancy – Legal Mosaic, weighs in on regulation of law as both a profession and an industry. Cohen argues that “the core tenets of legal practice … have changed little over time, even as new challenges arise,” and therefore lawyers are qualified to sit as regulators. However, he counters that when approaching the regulation of the industry, “the business of delivering legal services in an increasingly corporatized, digitized, inter-connected, complex world requires outside regulators whose focus is on consumers, not lawyers.”
