The Ministry of Law (MinLaw) has announced a five-week extension to its public consultation on the recommendations issued by the Committee to Review the Regulatory Framework for Law Practices and Collaborations in Singapore. The consultation, launched on 16 October 2025, will now remain open until 14 January 2026.
The Committee’s report proposes significant reforms to modernise the regulatory structure governing Singapore law practices, foreign law practices and cross-border collaborations. Since the consultation opened, MinLaw has received a wide range of substantive feedback from legal practitioners and industry stakeholders. According to the Ministry, the extension is intended to give respondents more time to study the report in detail and to provide considered submissions. It also allows MinLaw to continue ongoing engagement efforts with the profession.
As at 24 November 2025, MinLaw has already engaged nearly 80 foreign law practices regarding the Committee’s recommendations and continues to meet with other segments of the industry, including domestic Singapore law practices. These discussions will continue through January 2026 to ensure that perspectives from across the sector are fully reflected.
The Committee’s full report, along with details on how to submit feedback, is available on MinLaw’s website. Members of the public and the legal community are encouraged to contribute their views to help shape the future regulatory landscape for law practices and legal collaborations in Singapore.
