The Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner convened more than 100 participants from across Victoria’s justice and legal sector for “The Citizen Lawyer: Professional Identity, Public Purpose and the Rule of Law”. The regulator framed the symposium around the evolving role of lawyers and the profession’s responsibility to maintain public trust in the justice system.
Speakers included the Hon Justice Amanda Chambers, Canadian legal sector analyst Jordan Furlong and Jidah Clark, Chair of the Victorian Treaty Authority. VLSB+C said the discussion sits at the heart of its vision to maintain and enhance public trust and confidence in Victorian lawyers and to support and strengthen the rule of law.
