The Law Society of British Columbia (LSBC) has launched a survey to better understand the challenges faced by legal professionals with disabilities and to identify ways to improve accessibility and inclusion within the province’s legal profession. The initiative seeks input not only from those with lived experience but also from friends, family, and colleagues who can provide secondary perspectives.
Participants can choose to complete a 15–20-minute online survey or take part in a one-on-one phone interview. Phone interviews may be conducted privately with either a member of the LSBC Policy team or the Equity Advisor. Interested participants can contact the Policy team at policy@lsbc.org or the Equity Advisor at equity@lsbc.org.
Confidentiality is a key principle of the survey. Responses will not be linked to names or member IDs, ensuring that participants can share openly without concern for personal identification. Information gathered will inform the development of policies aimed at supporting equal participation, dismantling barriers, and creating a more accessible and inclusive legal profession in British Columbia.
Participation is entirely voluntary, and individuals may withdraw at any stage without providing a reason and without any negative consequences. The survey will remain open until October 31, 2025.
This initiative forms part of LSBC’s broader commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring that legal professionals with disabilities can fully participate in the profession and that systemic barriers are addressed proactively through informed policy-making.
